Ilham Babazade-An appeal to the Democratic Society of the World
An appeal to the Democratic Society of the World about the abduction and torture of blogger Elvin Isaev.
Elvin Isaev, ethnic Talysh with severe diabetes and group III disability, was born on October 21, 1980 in the village of Bolshoy Kolatan, Masalli District. Isaev Elvin Iltikham received Russian citizenship in 2001 and has been living in Russia as a citizen for more than 20 years.
The Azerbaijani government has stepped up pressure on Elvin in cooperation with Russia. As a result, Elvin Isaev was deprived of Russian citizenship by order of the Dzerzhinsky District Court in St. Petersburg, Russia, on August 26, 2019. His deportation to Azerbaijan was suspended due to public protests.
September 28, 2019 Elvin Isaev left Russia for Kiev, Ukraine. After a short stay in Kiev, he was abducted under unknown circumstances and delivered to Azerbaijan on December 12, 2019.
According to official information published in the case of Elvin Isaev, he was taken to Azerbaijan in an unknown manner and imprisoned on December 14 in the remand prison No. 1 of the Prison Service. The worst part is that no one knows where Elvin Isaev is, intact or not.
Everyone knows that critics of the Azerbaijani government have been detained and brutally tortured in the Basement of the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of the Interior. There is no reliable information about the conditions in which he is detained. We are sure that he is subjected to serious torture every day, because Elvin Isaev is mentioned on social networks as a Talish national activist, and from time to time the Azerbaijani government deliberately exaggerates this issue.
Therefore, I hope for your support and ask you to provide the necessary assistance, given that the life of Elvin Isaev is in danger, and he may die at any time as a result of cruel torture:
To force the government of Azerbaijan to stop illegal actions against it;
Allowing Elvin Isaev to meet with his lawyer; Providing the public with reliable and correct information about its current state; Ensuring the participation of international organizations and independent media in an open and fair trial in the case of Elvin Isaev; Force the government to stop torture and inhuman treatment.
Respectfully Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Sport, Youth and Tourism of the Government in Emigration of the Talysh Mugan Autonomous Republic, Member of the Commission for the Protection of Human Rights created under the Cabinet of Ministers of TMAR.
